LETTUCE WRAPS (with wok-fried Beef)

Lettuce wraps with wok-fried beef is a classic dish that’s both flavorful and healthy. Here’s a recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 head of lettuce (butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, and cornstarch.
  2. In a wok or large frying pan, heat the sesame oil over high heat.
  3. Add the diced onions and minced garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until ned, browabout 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Separate the leaves from the head and gently pull them apart.
  7. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the wok-fried beef mixture into each lettuce leaf.
  8. Fold the sides of the lettuce over the filling, like a taco.
  9. Serve immediately, topped with fresh cilantro if desired.
