Lettuce wraps with wok-fried beef is a classic dish that’s both flavorful and healthy. Here’s a recipe for you:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice wine
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 head of lettuce (butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, and cornstarch.
- In a wok or large frying pan, heat the sesame oil over high heat.
- Add the diced onions and minced garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef and cook until ned, browabout 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the sauce mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Separate the leaves from the head and gently pull them apart.
- Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the wok-fried beef mixture into each lettuce leaf.
- Fold the sides of the lettuce over the filling, like a taco.
- Serve immediately, topped with fresh cilantro if desired.
